"Mirth"
Nunavut
Photographer: John Sylvester

I was walking through the Nunavut community of Cape Dorset when I spotted this group of school girls outside Peter Pitseolak school (a school named after a photographer!) watching me and giggling. I held up my camera in the universal “can I take a photo” gesture, which induced more giggles. I love the image because it’s children just being themselves – a combination of mirth and self-consciousness that comes with the age.
